What are the characteristics of the ideal biomarker for identifying patients with prostate cancer?

An ideal biomarker should have a good specificity for clinically significant prostate cancer. We want to avoid diagnosing cancers that will never do any harm to the patient. Instead, it is important to use biomarkers that only focus on finding these cancers that need treatment early. [Furthermore, the risk of missing clinically significant prostate cancer should be minimal.]
