What is the main reason why good biomarkers are really needed for diagnosing prostate cancer?

At the moment, overdiagnosis and overtreatment of prostate cancer are big problems. Prostate biopsies are invasive procedures that harbour risks such as infections and bleeding. Because too many biopsies are performed, more cancers are found that perhaps should not be found. These type of cancers will not do any harm in the long run.
